HERBAL ADVENT WREATH

clip_image002

Make a fragrant, herb advent wreath for this Christmas season to grace your table with meaning as well as beauty. The wreath or circle has always been symbolic of eternity and the evergreens and herbs also suggest life and hope. The candles are the first lights of the season and represent Christ as the Light of the World.

MATERIALS:
Wire Wreath Form on tray/or Wreath-shaped Container
Fresh Herbs
Oasis
Candle cups and taper candles

ADVENT WREATH HERBS:
Juniper – symbol of life & hope
Boxwood - symbol of everlasting life
Bay – symbol of merit and honor
Horehound – symbol of healing
Mint – symbol of virtue
Lavender – symbol of purity
Myrtle – symbol of peace and joy
Pomegranate – symbol of royalty
Rosemary – symbol of remembrance
Rue – symbol of virtue
Sage – symbol of immortality
Thyme – symbol of courage and strength

DIRECTIONS:
1. Arrange soaked oasis in wreath form or in a container.
2. Add candle cups.
3. Add wreath base herb (Juniper or Boxwood)
4. Add accent herbs around candle cups
5. Finish with addition of candles

Any herbs or greens should be cut and put in water to drink overnight or at least several hours before they are placed in the oasis. A wreath made on an oasis wreath ring should be watered often to keep it fresh.
