clip_image001

Need a great last minute gift for a hostess or a friend?? One way to use outdated herbs & spices is to use them to make the house smell great! Just gather the following ingredients from your pantry or craft cupboard to make a spicy potpourri to simmer on the stove:

STOVETOP POTPOURRI
¼ cup whole cloves
¼ cup cinnamon chips
¼ cup allspice berries
¼ cup dried orange peel
¼ cup dried lemon peel
¼ cup star anise pieces
bay laurel leaves

Combine all ingredients except bay leaves and fill muslin bags with 3Tbs mixture plus 2 bay leaves.

To use, bring 3 cups water to a boil. Add muslin bag and a sliced apple. Reduce heat to a simmer, and add water as necessary to keep it from boiling dry. DO NOT CONSUME

Today is Swap Ideas Day, so what ideas do you have for a last minute gift or for using outdated herbs & spices??
