TEA LEAF PILLOWS

There is an ancient tradition in China that involves the creation of therapeutic pillows made with loose leaf tea.  Tea has been used for centuries by the Chinese not only for its taste but also for the health benefits it provides including using aromatic whole tea leaves as a filler for their pillows.  Over 3,000 years ago they discovered the unique fusion of comfort and aromatherapy.   Sleeping on a tea pillow cools the head, boosts the immune system, soothes nerves and improves sleeping quality.  Tea has antimicrobial properties so tea pillows are an excellent choice for anyone suffering from asthma or other breathing problems too.

Making a tea leaf pillow ensures the quality plus one can choose the individual ingredients as well as create them specifically for blessing others.  The better the quality of the tea such as wild-crafted and organic, the healthier and more beneficial the tea leaves.  They can be made in any size or shape and sachet size pillows can be used to freshen your wardrobe or car as well as tucked inside your pillow for enhancing your sleep.

Tea leaf pillows can be made with either fresh unused loose leaf tea which provide a stronger aroma or with leaves that have been brewed and then air-dried on a mesh screen preferably in the sun.  Make the pillow out of natural materials like cotton, although you can also make a more decorative cover of silk for sachet pillows and an additional washable cover for a standard sleeping pillow.  Stuff the pillow to the desired firmness, especially for sleeping, and then sew closed.  Standard sleeping pillows should be periodically be set out in the sun to dry out any moisture accumulation and replaced after a couple months of use.
